Bringing together a variety of expert voices on the subject, the panelists covered various angles such as historical contexts, use of language and media, and political events. Moderated by Laura Hood, Politics Editor, at The Conversation UK, the speakers included Ruth Wodak, Emerita Distinguished Professor of Discourse Studies at Lancaster University, and author of the award-winning book, The Politics of Fear: The Shameless Normalization of Far-Right Discourse; Barrie Axford, Professor Emeritus in politics at Oxford Brookes University, and author of Populism Versus the New Globalization. Aurelien Mondon is a Senior Lecturer in politics at the University of Bath. He is co-author of Reactionary democracy: How Racism and the Populist Far Right Became Mainstream with Aaron Winter who is Senior Lecturer in Criminology at the University of East London.
