Sage Publishing and the Joint Council of Librarians of Color (JCLC Inc.) are pleased to announce a new scholarship program that will award $2,000 each to five library school students – one from each of the five National Associations of Librarians of Color (NALCo):

• American Indian Library Association (AILA)

• Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA)

• Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA)

• Chinese American Librarians Association (CALA)

• REFORMA: The National Association to Promote Library & Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking

“Sage sees librarians as fundamental to successful teaching, learning, and research in higher education. We also believe that the optimal future for libraries will be enabled if library students from underrepresented backgrounds are given the support they need to become the campus leaders of tomorrow,” said Karen Phillips, Executive Vice President of Learning at Sage. “At Sage, we believe that a healthy future for higher ed is only possible when voices of all backgrounds can thrive, and as an independent company, we have the unique freedom to forge new partnerships that help our community as we move toward that long-term goal. We are very proud to be announcing this new partnership with the NALCo associations today.”

Recipients will be selected by panels created by each of the NALCo member associations based on eligibility criteria. The call for applications will be made in the spring and the five awardees will be publicly announced later this year.
