SAGE Journals Commits to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

SAGE Publishing was founded on the belief that education and scientific rigor lies at the heart of a healthy society and are key to addressing societal problems. When it comes to addressing structural inequalities within society, we know that science and education are key, and we are committed to playing our part in helping to drive the fundamental changes required.

In pursuit of this, SAGE Journals is pleased to present our DEI pledge statement. Within the scope of the 1,000+ journals we publish and the 400+ societies we partner with, plus any future endeavors we undertake, within our communities, our own ranks, and beyond, we pledge to:

·       amplify diverse voices

·       increase representation

·       increase the visibility and impact of our research

·       educate ourselves, our journal editors, and our societies

·       embed DEI in our processes

·       ensure our research is widely accessible

·       encourage diverse and equitable language and referencing

·       and publish content that promotes anti-racism and anti-discrimination – agitating existing structures that systemically work against an inclusive research publishing domain.

“We acknowledge the role we play and the responsibility we hold – not only in making representation and scholarship more diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI), but in ensuring we do so in a manner that is just, mindful, and moral,” said Martha Avtandilian, Social Science Journal Publisher and Research Pillar Application Stream Lead.
