We have developed these guidelines to support authors submitting articles for Sage Journals, publishing books with Sage or Corwin, or working with us to create content for our Learning Resources products.

The purpose of this statement is to make it clear that it is our intent that Sage staff are treated with dignity and respect, free from harassment and bullying by others.

We want all Sage events to be a safe and respectful place for everyone to enjoy themselves, as well as share ideas and experiences. Everyone who attends our events should expect to feel welcome and included and we all play a part in creating this environment.

Academic work outside the daily duties is often uncompensated, a condition that has been true for decades. People doing work for Corporate Communications or Sage more broadly, when they are called upon to do something they would not do on their own volition or for their own direct benefit, should receive some form of compensation. This holds true even if in real-world terms it’s essentially symbolic of our thanks rather than a complete reimbursement for the person’s efforts.

Sage has a range of publishing policies in place that support our work in ensuring the widest possible dissemination and highest ethical standards of the research we publish. As members of the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE) we are committed to upholding the integrity of the academic record. Sage's Research Integrity Group (RIG) was formed to ensure the highest standards of ethics and transparency in our journal content. The RIG is comprised of senior members of staff from our Contracts and Legal departments, Editorial, Peer Review and Production teams and is responsible for developing policies and resources around research, peer review and post-publication ethics. The group works to ensure these policies represent industry best practice and evolve to respond to the needs of our communities. The RIG also provides support to Sage staff and our journal editors in resolving errors in the academic record or investigating misconduct in the publication process.

Our Author, Editor and Reviewer Gateways provide a wealth of resources to support you, whether you are publishing an article, editing a journal or looking for advice on peer review; we are here to help.

The Book Author Hub has a selection of handy resources — for both prospective and current authors — that are designed to make submitting a book proposal or publishing your book as easy as possible.

At Sage we understand that the Higher Education market is seeing an accelerated transformation towards the digital delivery of teaching and learning resources. To support our library and faculty customers we recognise the need to outline our commitment to providing an eTextbook programme that supports faculty and enables students to easily access Sage content their institution has purchased, whether from us directly or via partner aggregators.

UK gender pay gap reporting

We aim to reduce our gender pay gap significantly over time. There is no overnight solution to closing this gap. We want Sage UK to be an organisation where the most talented staff are recruited and have the opportunity to grow. We strive to achieve a better representation of diverse talent across our workforce. Please note, gender pay gap reports are related to UK business operations only.

Diversity is one of the cornerstones of a vibrant culture and we are undertaking work to build a Sage that is more equitable and representative of the communities we serve and of which we are part.

Sage takes quality and accuracy very seriously in all our publications, and that includes our social media output.

We use social media to highlight publications, events, and other news about Sage and to highlight interesting developments elsewhere in the disciplines we publish for those who follow our channels.
