SAGE Signs C4DISC's Joint Statement of Principles
SAGE has signed C4DISC’s (Coalition for Diversity and Inclusion in Scholarly Communication) Joint Statement of Principles to express our commitment to making the scholarly communications ecosystem more diverse, equal and inclusive.
C4DISC was founded in 2017 as a coalition of scholarly publishing’s professional organizations such as the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) with shared interests in increasing diversity in scholarly communication, and to collaborate on projects such as the Joint Statement of Principles, market research, training resources and toolkits to support diversity, equity and inclusion.
SAGE is committed to building an inclusive organization where all individuals are treated with fairness and respect. We are committed to diversity as a cornerstone of a vibrant culture, and we are working to build a more equitable organization that is representative of the communities we serve and are a part of.
We believe that doing this will not only make SAGE a better place to work, but will also help us improve our publishing by providing more diverse perspectives on the content we commission, and helping us to increase the diversity of the scholars who publish with us.
C4DISC’s statement of principles is well aligned to our own activities supporting diversity, equity and inclusion. We have been involved in the Toolkits that C4DISC has been developing and we look forward to continued work with C4DISC to support the critical changes that are needed in scholarly communication.
