SAGE Catalyst, a collaborative teaching and learning tool launches in the UK, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the APAC region

SAGE Catalyst is a new teaching and learning tool providing unlimited, university-wide access to over 700 premium social science textbooks with virtual collaboration, classroom discussion, and peer-to-peer learning.  Through its support of multimedia resources, engagement analytics, and in-text collaborative discussion tool, SAGE Catalyst is designed to meet the demands of the hybrid classroom whilst increasing student collaboration.

Following a successful two-year pilot, with a focus on understanding customers’ needs, SAGE Catalyst is now available across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the APAC region. This new online tool has received very positive feedback from librarians and faculty who have observed an increase in student engagement, while providing access to core texts across ten disciplines, including business & management, research methods, education, and more.

“It’s been a real advantage to me and the students. It improves access to the key resources you want students to read […] and it helps you manage your course and ensure students actually enjoy textbook reading,” says Paul Hunter, Lecturer in the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow.

“There is a clear need from librarians to provide equitable online access to textbooks whilst also supporting teaching and learning with a tool that increases student engagement and collaboration and gives important insights on student behaviors,” says Katie Metzler, Vice President for Social Science Innovation at SAGE. “SAGE Catalyst is a result of Sage and Talis coming together to work on a unique and valuable product offering to meet this demand for online and blended teaching, amplified by the switch to remote teaching during COVID-19.”

SAGE Catalyst is a digital library subscription product. Libraries receive unlimited, institution-wide access to the full textbook collection, including any new textbooks added during their subscription period. In addition, their faculty can access Talis Elevate to use the collaborative teaching and learning functionality.
