Creating a safe and inclusive environment

We want all Sage events to be a safe and respectful place for everyone to enjoy themselves, as well as share ideas and experiences. Everyone who attends our events should expect to feel welcome and included and we all play a part in creating this environment.

We ask when you attend our events that you behave in a professional manner — as you would in the workplace — including exercising good judgment when consuming alcohol. We ask that you avoid language or harmful behaviors that might make others feel uncomfortable, offended, or excluded. This includes harassment or discrimination of any sort. Such intentional or perceived behaviors include, but are not limited to: misgendering, microaggressions, racism, sexism, ableism, or stigmatizing language.

If you experience or witness something that makes you feel uncomfortable, please speak to a member of the events team.

Please also refer to Sage’s Dignity at Work Policy.

Food and drinks

  • All food will be clearly labelled or, where canapés are served, the serving staff will be fully briefed on the ingredients used and happy to answer your questions.

  • We make every attempt to provide and share allergen and dietary specifics when available.

  • Where alcohol is available, the event organizers reserve the right to stop serving or, where necessary, remove from the event anyone who appears to have over-consumed or is behaving inappropriately due to their consumption.

  • A plentiful variety of non-alcoholic beverages will be readily available.

Wellbeing

  • Whenever possible, there will be a designated space available where you can relax and get some quiet at any time during the event.

Accessibility

  • The venue will be wheelchair accessible.

  • Accessibility services are available on request – please indicate any requirements when registering your attendance and speak with a member of the events team on the day so that we can support you.

  • Name and pronoun stickers will be available, and we encourage you to make use of these if you feel comfortable to do so. Please check people’s names and pronouns so that you can refer to them correctly.

  • There will be no flashing lights at the event.

Facilities

  • All facilities will be clearly labelled, and the events team will be able to direct you as required.

  • There will be a variety of seating available.

  • Accessible bathrooms will be available.

  • We will make every attempt to provide gender neutral bathrooms, where possible.

Entertainment

  • This set of guidelines will be shared with any entertainment providers prior to being booked as part of the event and, in accordance, they will be asked to avoid any inappropriate content or behavior.

  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion will also be considered when choosing any thematic content for the event.
