Inclusive Research in Sage Journals

Louise Skelding Tattle, associate research integrity director at Sage, writes about publishing inclusive research in Sage journals and “how to ensure research outcomes work for the affected community and not a narrow group of privileged participants.”  

Sage’s commitment to inclusive research avoids “'helicopter' or 'parachute' science, which describes practices where researchers from high-income countries conduct research in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) with either no or minimal involvement from local communities.”  

Louise discusses the guidance for Sage authors to address such exploitative practices and the role editors and publishers play in promoting equality in journal publishing, as well as Sage’s resources for developing diversity, inclusivity, and equality.
